Wedding & Engagement Rings From Orkney

Alison Moore wedding and engagement jewellery

There’s something particularly special about making a piece of jewellery that will become part of someone’s story.

Engagement and wedding rings mark some of life’s biggest moments, before becoming part of all the everyday ones that follow.

Here in Orkney, we make each one by hand - and every so often, we’re lucky enough to hear a little about where they end up.

James and Hannah Hannah wearing her Selene Emerald Trilogy engagement ring

James & Hannah - A Sunrise in the Alps

James chose the Selene Emerald Trilogy Ring for Hannah, with three beautiful emeralds set in yellow gold. The three-stone design traditionally represents the past, present and future - rather fitting for an engagement ring.

The ring then travelled rather further than most before James got in touch with some very happy news:

“Hope all is well with you, and thanks again for all your help with this order. Really pleased to share that I proposed yesterday, 2,000m up in the Alps at sunrise and Hannah said yes - and importantly absolutely loves the ring!”

A sunrise in the Alps, a yes, and a little piece of Orkney along for the adventure.

Finding the One

There’s no right way to choose an engagement ring.

It might be a complete surprise or something you choose together. You might have a particular stone in mind, or simply know what feels right when you see it.

From colourful natural gemstones to diamonds, each of our engagement rings has its own character, with plenty of options to make your choice feel personal.

Flora and Jack Flora's Diamond Pebble Cluster engagement ring

Flora & Jack - A Little Piece of Orkney

Flora’s Diamond Pebble Cluster Ring was made in white gold with teal sapphires & diamonds, inspired by the sea-tumbled pebbles found along Orkney’s shores.

As it turns out, the Orkney connection couldn’t have been more fitting:

“Thank you so much, the ring is beautiful. It was so, so special to get an engagement ring from you. My fiancé and I met in Orkney and I lived in Stromness for a while, so it has a lot of meaning for us.”

A ring inspired by Orkney, for a story that began here too.

Made for Each Other

Once you’ve found the engagement ring, there’s the question of what will sit alongside it.

Many of our wedding rings are shaped to sit naturally with our engagement rings, so the two feel comfortable together without losing what makes each one special.

Jack and Tia at the Falmouth Sea Shanty Festival Tia's Gold Tinkerbell engagement ring

Jack & Ria - A Falmouth Proposal

Jack and Ria’s engagement took Alison Moore a little further south, to the Falmouth Sea Shanty Festival.

Jack proposed with a Gold Tinkerbell Ring, with the sea, music and celebrations providing a pretty memorable backdrop.

We always love hearing where our rings end up, and this one looks like it had a particularly good adventure.

Sarah and Adam at Happy Valley in Orkney Sarah wearing her Celeste Trilogy engagement ring

Sarah & Adam - Kirkwall Proposal

We always love seeing our jewellery out in the world, especially when it’s somewhere as familiar as this.

Sarah and Adam’s engagement photographs were taken at Happy Valley by Daniel Mainland, with Sarah wearing her Celeste Trilogy Ring.

Such lovely photographs to mark this chapter - and a very special ring getting to play a small part in it.

And the Story Continues...

From a sunrise high in the Alps to a love story that began in Stromness, it’s always rather lovely to hear where our jewellery ends up.

And really, the wedding day is only the beginning. These are rings made for everything that comes next.
