RING SIZING

All rings made by Alison Moore Designs are made to UK ring sizes, using the system also known as 'Wheatsheaf'.  Rings are measured alphabetically from A (the smallest) to Z+6. Half sizes are also available to help you find the ideal fit.  Rings are measured using the leading edge, that means the first part of the ring to hit the Wheatsheaf ring stick.

When measuring your ring size there are a few things to be aware of:

  • Your fingers will change size slightly throughout the day, with the temperature and physical activity having an effect.

  • If your hands are cold, your fingers can be up to half a size smaller.

  • Any ring with a wide band width will require to be slightly larger than your normal size (up to one or two sizes) so keep this in mind when choosing your ring.  This includes stacking rings!

  • Ensure that anyone measuring your ring size uses a Wheatsheaf stick and measures the leading edge.

HOW TO FIND YOUR RING SIZE

If you are unsure of your ring size, the best and most-accurate way to find out is to call into a local jeweller. Alternatively, you can purchase a ring sizer from our store.  The plastic ring sizer works like a belt. Once on the finger it is tightened to be a comfortable fit and the correct ring size can be read off the side.

 If you find that one of our rings is not a perfect fit, just send it back to us and we will be happy to exchange or re-size (subject to postal charges).

ORDERING A SPECIAL RING SIZE

If you would like to order a ring size that isn't listed on our website, please give us a call on 01856 771511 or email us at hello@alisonmoore.co.uk. We will then be able to confirm whether we can make a ring in your requested size.

CHOOSING THE CORRECT NECKLACE LENGTH

Everyone has both physical and aesthetic preferences on necklace length. We allow our customers a choice of chain length and style with each pendant purchased.

A good way to measure for necklace size is to take a measuring tape or piece of string (or ribbon) and wrap it around the base of your neck, and then mark the spot where it meets. Depending on what you are buying and what length you prefer, try to make it comfortable, imagining how the real jewellery will fit. If you have used a string or ribbon to measure then lay it against a ruler or measuring tape to determine your neck size, you should order.

Most chains are available in three sizes 16", 18" and 20".

CHOOSING BANGLE SIZE

We offer three size options for our bangles (small, medium and large), because we feel it is important to have the right fit. Remember that bangles need to fit over your hand without opening them, as they do not have a clasp. The best way to determine the size that you require is to measure the inside diameter of a bangle that fits you well.

Small = 59mm / 6cm

Medium = 65mm / 6.5cm

Large = 71mm / 7cm

Please refer to the product description for exact measurements.

CUFF BRACELETS

Our cuffs are generally available in two lengths:  14cm and 15cm with a gap to enable you to slide your wrist through.

To measure which size you need, use a tape measure to measure loosely around your wrist and then subtract 3cm for the gap. If you would like the cuff to be quite loose, add 1cm or two.  The cuff can always be tightened slightly by squeezing the two ends together.

Our cuff bracelets are slightly adjustable, so an exact fit is not as important as it would be for a ring. Individual people have different preferences on how they want a bracelet to fit.
