It’s been just over a week since we opened the big beautiful red doors of our Stromness Shop and welcomed lots of lovely customers in for the very first time. What a whirlwind the first week has been; coinciding with Stromness' annual Shopping Week, the atmosphere on the street was immeasurable.
With the madness subsiding, we've had a few moments to reflect on the move, and learn a little bit more about the significance of our new home; particularly when it comes to shopping.
Stromness Shopping Week was established in 1949, and it's the longest running festival in Orkney. Just as it does today, Shopping Week was formed as a way to encourage shoppers to visit the small town and an opportunity for Stromnessians to showcase their offerings. We'll hold shopping week fondly in our hearts for years to come, and remember it as they day we began our new chapter; in the stunning seaside town of Stromness.
We're looking forward to continuing this legacy and welcoming visitors to Stromness throughout the year; telling our story, showcasing our range of jewellery and homewares and hopefully coming later in the year - jewellery making workshops.
