Retail Manager (full-time, permanent)

Job Summary:   To manage the general day to day running of the retail and customer service aspects of the business.

Main Duties:

  • Providing an excellent level of customer service
  • Managing all aspects of running the Dounby shop
  • Ensuring that orders are packaged and dispatched efficiently
  • Managing and training seasonal staff
  • Quality checking of work produced by the workshop
  • Ensuring that online sales are managed effectively
  • Responding to sales enquiries via email, telephone and in person
  • Preparing and sending quotations for bespoke commissions
  • Communicating with our bench workers about specific customer requests
  • Setting up retail displays in other Orkney outlets

 Other Duties May Include:

  • Improving administration systems
  • Uploading new products to the website
  • Attending trade/retail shows
  • Any other duty as required by the line manager commensurate with the post, for which the post holder has the necessary experience and/or training.

 Person Specification:

As the Retail Manager, you will be eager to give great customer service and be a team player with strong organisational skills.  You will be able to multitask and work to deadlines with great attention to detail. You will be proactive and hardworking and be used to working with computers .  You will be passionate about Alison Moore Designs and your role, and contribution to the overall success of the company. You will be motivated to drive your own development and create your own career path.

Hours:
This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week. The hours of work are 9.00am until 5.30pm five days per week, which will include some Saturdays.

Web Content Co-ordinator (part-time, temporary may become permanent)

Job Summary:   To co-ordinate and manage web content for the company

Main Duties:

  • Writing product descriptions
  • Managing email and blog content
  • Resizing images and managing the image library
  • Publishing content to the website

Person Specification:
As the Web Content Co-ordinator, you will have a good eye for design and have strong organisational skills.  You will be proactive and hardworking and able to work to deadlines.  You will have great attention to detail with strong writing, editing and proofing skills.  You will be passionate about Alison Moore Designs and your role, and contribution to the overall success of the company. You will be motivated to drive your own development and create your own career path.

 Hours:
Part-time, temporary 3-month contract (may become permanent).  Hours to be decided.
