  • Christmas gift for romantics

Christmas has now begun and it looks like lots of you are being treated by Santa this year! We've had some lovely sparkling pieces heading out in the post, all wrapped up and ready for under the Christmas tree.

In October we launched the Happily Ever After collection and it's been great to see you all love them as much as we do. We've recently added some gorgeous gold hearts into the collection also, which glow in the warm tones of the yellow gold. The look beautiful and have made the pieces even more stunning. The silver and gold hearts are each textured with the signature Storybook finish giving them a rustic, homely feel.

The small gold heart ring in gold would make the perfect gift for her

You can find some lovely pieces within the collection in a range of different prices, starting at £45 in silver and £139 in 9ct gold. The Happily Ever After Necklet has been a firm favourite since it launched and it's wonderful to see everyone enjoying it in the gold now also.

There's still time before Christmas to get your hands on some beautiful jewellery to treat a loved one (or yourself!). Each piece arrives carefully gift wrapped and packaged in an Alison Moore Designs box, so you don't even need to worry about wrapping, one more thing off the list!

  • SUMMER LIFE AND NEBULA OFFER

At this time of year in Orkney, the local agricultural shows are in full flow. Here in Dounby, we sit right next to the show park so the smell of hot doughnuts and burgers filled the shop yesterday (it was far too tempting to resist. There’s nothing quite like a hot doughnut!).  It was lovely seeing so many folk coming by the studio to say hello, we loved meeting you all.

Now we’re preparing for tomorrow at the County Show in Orkney's capital of Kirkwall where we will be setting up shop in the Craft Tent for the day.  It’s always great to see the other businesses there with such a wonderful array of different crafts and talents.  We’re bringing with us a table of sparkling jewellery so feel free to come along and try on some gorgeous things!

    Perfectly groomed bottoms!

To celebrate the shows we’re offering 10% off of our Nebula collection, both in store, at the show and online (until midnight Monday 13th August).

The Dounby studio will be closed tomorrow but we will be back open on Sunday.

If you’re in Orkney, then we hope you have a great show day and look forward to seeing you there!

  • New (old!) collection: Rockpool

After a long winter the sun has finally poked her head through the clouds and is bringing some warmth back to our island!  We have some absolutely gorgeous beaches here in Orkney, you’re never far from the shore and so beach combing is a great way to spend a sunny Sunday.

    Skaill Bay, Orkney

Looking down at the sand can become quite obsessive. You never really know what you are going to find.  But I nearly always come away with some beautiful shells.

And once you start looking in detail at the beautiful white sand, you soon discovered that it is made up of minute fragments of shell, coral and teeny tiny shells.

    Beach finds

Inspired by this beauty and variety found amongst the sand, a couple of years back I created a new range of jewellery.

    Cockle shell jewellery

This collection has slowly worked its way from our shop and now finally on to the website.  So it shall be a familiar sight to those who have visited our studio!  We have a range of shells in the collection including broken limpet shells, cowries and cockles and are bound to make any grey day feel like summer.

I know that each person has their favourite shell so have a look through the new pieces and see if you can see yours!
